2020 Lockdown Music Videos
Musicians are a relentlessly dedicated bunch, you'll likely never hear anyone ever say "I used to be a musician". Whether it's a hobby, or a profession, it's usually with you for life and for those of us for who play live music for a living, the lockdown 2020 put a complete stop to it.
During that time, lots of musicians found ways to keep active. Some playing a set online via livestream, even some doing "Doorstep" gigs!
Lockdown Collaborations became a thing during this pandemic and a very popular thing too! Recording music is something every musician loves to do, but often don't get much time for whilst we're busy working during the day (yes, we do that too!) and gigging at night, so this was at least an opportunity to do some recording again. Computer recording equipment is super powerful and astonishingly cheap these days and with the power of the internet, many of us have used some of this time to collaborate with our friends wherever they are in the world!
Since you're on my page, you've probably seen the ones I've done already, so I'll just append them at the bottom, in case you missed em..
Here is a collection of some of the lockdown music videos that some of my talented friends and their talented friends have produced during this time, some real gems among them. Enjoy!
First up, a wonderfully groovy cover of Steely Dan's "Peg"
Here's a really polished treat for your ears! En Vogue's "Don't Let Go" by Bisa's CoLab Sessions
Some fabulous guitar playing as ever from the awesome Don Stick!
One of my new favourite songs. Here's an original from my old bandmate George Clift. I had the privilege of getting involved in mixing this track.
Stunning acoustic version of Whitesnake's Here I Go Again. So many great performances in this video, check out their links on the YouTube page.
Another original here from Ian Hoare's Bluegrass Hoez - Know What I Mean is a really fun & lively track!
This project from Leo actually raised a load of money for charity! It's a fun mashup of GnR's Paradise City, with the lyrics of Stevie Wonder's Living For The City - Performed by The Gig Economy
Brilliantly performed and produced cover of Toto's "Pamela". Again lots of conributors here, check them out on the YouTube page
Here's an original from drummer/sound engineer (and now singer too!) Ed Thorne, featuring many of the guys from other videos on this page. Ed has spent this year making tutoral videos for home recording, so if you wanna join in here, check out his YouTube channel.
Kicking cover of Audioslave's "Cochise". Young Ben Alwin on drums here with his fascinating and rare open handed drumming style. His father Paul was the drummer in one of my first bands back in the early 90s. You'll recognise our favourite punk George here on bass/vocals and Gig Economy's Leo on guitar.
Wonderful cover of Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed" from Edu Bisa Bisogno - piano and Hammond organ Sean Rumsey - vocals Jo Phillpotts - bass
This is Andy Woodard who regularly plays drums with us in London, here with friends doing ELO's "Mr Blue Sky". This was the final song in a "30 song challenge" in which Chris in this video gathered musicians to record and produce a song (and video!) every day for 30 days!
Imagine walking into your kitchen and finding this going on! The fabulous Baldy Holly Band doing Dean Martin's "Memories Are Made Of This". Check out their YouTube channel to see some more great tunes they cook up in there!
Check out the awesome harp skills of multi-talented singer, songwriter, bassist, guitarist, harpist, beer drinkist and loads of other stuffist - Gareth Huggett
The MacManus brothers doing this brilliant acoustic cover of The Waterboys "Whole of The Moon" getting together on each other's telly!
The amazing voices of Elly O'Keeffe & Kat Eaton. Nuff said!
I know that many of these guys have many other projects oging on, but for these guys, I think an Iron Maiden tribute band should be one of them. They do it so damn good eh! Flight of Icarus
Here's Guilherme Aguiar aka "Ghost" and his young students from around the world performing Billie Eilish's "8". How amazing is that!
On drums here, the monster of metal Scott Higham and friends with this superbly performed track Walk on Water
More from CoLab sessions here with luscious vocals from Vivienne Chi
Jack Stevens on bass and Edu Bisa Bisogno on keys
Toto seem to be a real favourite band for these lockdown cover versions, probably for the enormous challenge it presents. Delivering on it in superb style is David D'Andrade, Greenie Green and friends in this proper 80s VHS style video!
If you like Soundgarden, you'll love this! Ben & GeorgeĀ of Phantom Ink smashing the hell out of "Spoonman" Hell yeah!!
Robin Visser aka "Robinho" and the beautiful sound of his Telecaster in this cover of Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars"
Andy Morely aka Your Buddy Andy superb vocals on Buddy Holly's "Wishing" Hope to see one of Andy's live Buddy Holly tribute show's when we're all up & running again!
Myself on vocals, Andrea Samengo on guitar, Stefan Marinov on bass and the don himself Vincenzo Infusino on drums for this metal cover of Anastacia's "Left Outside Alone"
Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" featuring Andrea (guitars/strings programming), George (bass) and Olivier (drums). The brilliant photo & graphic artist Ana Sedano did an incredible job of making such an exciting video out of this basic footage that we gave her!
I didn't expect quite such an epic turn out when I put out a shout for people to join me to make this track. I had the privilege of working with this fine cast of great musicians. We even ended up with a real brass section, how cool! Click the YouTube page to see the cast and all links to their other work. Toto's "Rosanna" by Remotely Crue
Sam Hartman Wilcock taking on Lead Vocals on this 80s classic from Tears For Fears. Edu using his collection of vintage hardware to re-create this authentic sound!
I love singing these screaming GnR songs on gigs but I never dared try this one before. It's the holy grail for me as a big fan of Axl Rose's vocal style. I'm amazed my neighbours didn't call the police, or maybe an ambulance. The guys did an awesome job of playing! Our friend and dance instructor Jai Maddalen Simeone brings her awesomeness to the video.
This was Andrea's Idea. I love singing this stuff on gigs, but never tried recording it before. The 1st of a few of these songs, the guys did a brilliant job of playing and getting the sounds that they did. Guns n Roses "Nightrain"
Velvet Revolver - "Slither" Our cover of this track features our old mate and big VR fan Jay Dimoff on drums. He also produced the video.
Not my usual screetching Rock stuff, for some reason I had disco in my head. No idea why, I felt like hell, just getting over Covid!
Thanks to Stefan Marinov and David D'Andrade for adding their super skills to make this sound better than I could have dreamed! Sorry about all the dad dancing here!
That's all folks!
Well, actually, it's probably not! Come back again soon, in case I've missed any. I'll keep adding any new ones that I find..
It's well worth visiting the YouTube pages for the videos above, as all of the artists featured here have lots of other great music on their channels!
